	Tourist visa</h2>

	<p>
		<strong>PLEASE READ CAREFULLY</strong></p>
	<p>
		&nbsp;Please see our jurisdiction before sending the documents.</p>
	<p>
		Tourist visas are required for foreign nationals entering Brazil:</p>
	<ul>
		<li>
			<p>
				for tourism;</p>
		</li>
		<li>
			<p>
				to visit family or friends;</p>
		</li>
		<li>
			<p>
				to participate in sports competitions or art contests,&nbsp;<strong>provided that no income is derived directly from a Brazilian source</strong>&nbsp;(prize money excepted) (RN 33/99) ;</p>
		</li>
		<li>
			<p>
				as scientists, professors or researchers to attend a conference, seminar or meeting in their area of specialization,&nbsp;<strong>provided that no income is received in Brazil</strong>&nbsp;(letter of invitation from the organization in Brazil should be presented) (RN 16/98);</p>
		</li>
		<li>
			<p>
				as bearers of &quot;Protocolo da Pol&iacute;cia Federal&quot; (RN 14/98 e NSCJ 11.1.58) .</p>
			<strong>NOTE:&nbsp; please be aware that tourists are not allowed to engage in any kind of work in Brazil</strong></li>
	</ul>
	<p>
		&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;The Embassy of Brazil in Canberra may, at any time, request further information or additional documents deemed necessary. If you decide to apply by Post, please be prepared to cover the costs of all mailing services required.</p>
	<p>
		&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The duration of a Tourist Visa is generally 90 days, with MULTIPLE ENTRIES. Extension for a further 90 days may be requested to the Brazilian Federal Police in Brazil before the Visa expires and will be authorized or not at their discretion. Visitors can remain in Brazil for up to a maximum of 180 days in any twelve (12) month period counted from the day they first entered the country.</p>
	<p>
		&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <strong>For Australians</strong> the visa is valid for one year starting by the issue date. Australians are allowed to stay for 90 days in Brazil, counted from the first day of arrival. Extension for a further 90 days may be requested to the Brazilian Federal Police in Brazil before the Visa expires and will be granted at their discretion. Visitors can remain in Brazil for up to a maximum of 180 days in any twelve (12) month period counted from the day they first entered the country.</p>
	<p>
		&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; If you are Brazilian, you are required to enter and leave Brazil on your Brazilian passport (no Visa is needed).&nbsp;</p>
	<p>
		<strong>GENERAL VISA CONDITIONS AND REQUIREMENTS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT PRIOR NOTICE.</strong></p>
	<h3>
		Minimum Documentation Requirements&nbsp;</h3>
	<p>
		A. Original Passport valid for a minimum of six months with at least one blank page. The Embassy reserves the right not to endorse soiled or damaged passports.</p>
	<p>
		B. One recent professional passport size photograph (3x4 cm), frontal, with white background (please follow specifications given in the internet form - see link bellow). No other photos are accepted. Photos over 6 months old will not be accepted.</p>
	<p>
		C. Visa application filled-out online at:&nbsp;<a href="https://scedv.serpro.gov.br/" target="_blank">scedv.serpro.gov.br/</a>&nbsp;. Fill it out, print the receipt, sign it (with black or blue ink) and attach the photograph mentioned on item B (above) in the appropriate box.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />
		&nbsp;<br />
		D. Complete itinerary with passenger&#39;s name. The itinerary should mention when and where the passenger is entering and leaving Brazil,&nbsp;even if it is by bus or other <strong>transport (if it is not stated in the itinerary, please send a signed letter stating when, where and how you intend to arrive to and depart from Brazil)</strong>.&nbsp;&nbsp;Itinerary must be on airline or travel agent&#39;s letterhead paper, or identified with travel agency / airline stamp. Itinerary must also show dates and cities in Brazil of entry and departure (for airline employees only, ID card and support letter from employer replace ticket or itinerary).</p>
	<p>
		E. Travel authorization form for <strong>Brazilian</strong> minors (see link&nbsp;<a href="http://camberra.itamaraty.gov.br/en-us/required_authorization_form_for_kids_under_18_traveling_unaccompanied_to_brazil.xml" target="_blank">Travel authorization for brazilian minors</a>) and letter of consent signed by father and mother or guardian (proof of guardianship required) for applicants under 18 years old when traveling alone.</p>
	<p>
		F .&nbsp; Applicants under 18 years of age must present the &quot;Letter of Consent&quot; signed by both parents/legal guardian(s), as well as a copy of their photo ID/driver&#39;s license&nbsp; AND copy of the child&#39;s birth certificate. The Letter of Consent must be certified by a Justice of the Piece.&nbsp;&nbsp; N.B. If applicable, the parent/guardian should also present proof of sole custody/death certificate.</p>
	<p>
		G. For Brazilian Nationals who have children born abroad that have not previously been Registered at a Brazilian Embassy or Consulate; please sign this <a href="http://sistemas.mre.gov.br/kitweb/datafiles/Camberra/en-us/file/declaração.doc">declaration</a> and send with the documents. Signatures <span name="decodeable">must be recognized by notaries public or Justice of the Peace.</span></p>
	<p>
		H. In the cases of visa by mail or by agent, proof of residence within the Embassy&#39;s jurisdiction in Australia. Copy of telephone, electricity or water bill or driver&#39;s license is sufficient.&nbsp;</p>
	<p>
		I. Certain applicants (e.g. unemployed, self-employed, retired, students, etc.) are required to show proof of sufficient funds for self-maintenance in Brazil (a minimum of $2,500 per month if staying in hotels or $1,300 if staying in hostels). Evidence can be a current bank statement covering at least one month. Alternatively, if staying with a friend or relative, a letter from this person may suffice.</p>
	<h3>
		Tourist Visa Fees (per person)</h3>
	<p>
		All fees are payable in Australia Post Money Order in the name of the Embassy of Brazil. Other types of money orders, cheques, credit cards or cash are not accepted.</p>
	<p>
		<strong>If applying&nbsp;by mail, by agent, or via any third party:&nbsp;&nbsp;</strong></p>

				Australian citizens: A$ 55.00</p>
		</li>
		<li>
			<p>
				American citizens:&nbsp; A processing fee of A$ 180.00 will be charged to Visa applications presented by U.S. citizens in reciprocity for identical fee paid by Brazilian citizens who apply for a Visa to the United States of America.</p>
		</li>
		<li>
			<p>
				Citizens of all other countries must consult for a possible waiver of Visa or applicable fee.</p>
		</li>
	</ul>
	<p>

	<h3>
		Visa by mail&nbsp;&nbsp;</h3>
	<p>
		Applicants should send all required documentation and payment of fee as stated above plus a self-addressed pre-paid envelope of suitable size to the Embassy of Brazil in Canberra (see address bellow). Updated information on post charges is available at Australia Post offices.&nbsp;<strong>DO NOT SEND CASH</strong>, either for fees or for postage.&nbsp;</p>
	<h3>
		Visa in Person&nbsp;</h3>
	<p>
		Applicants should bring to the Embassy of Brazil in Canberra (see address bellow) all required documentation and the payment of fee as stated&nbsp; bellow plus a self-addressed pre-paid envelope of suitable size to the return of your documents.&nbsp;&nbsp;<strong>DO NOT BRING CASH</strong>, either for fees or for postage. The processing times for Visa applications lodged in person will be the same as stated above (MINIMUM 20 working days). The Embassy of Brazil does not provide express or priority services.&nbsp;</p>
